Pieris Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: PIRS) is a publicly-traded, clinical-stage biotechnology company with operations in Germany and the United States. Your Tasks

  • Oversee Pieris’ global IT systems, including responsibility for the Company’s cybersecurity policies and practices.
  • Provide corporate-wide support at all levels, helping to resolve IT-related issues in a timely manner for platforms, applications, networks, mobile computing devices, other equipment, and connectivity.
  • Create, implement and maintain all IT policies and procedures, including those for cybersecurity, hardware and infrastructure as well as software and services.
  • Evaluate IT out-sourcing opportunities versus building internal core competencies and engage consultants/contractors where appropriate. Provide assistance and technical expertise to functional areas in the evaluation, justification and selection of software and systems solutions.
  • Oversee administration and maintenance of computer equipment and software in all departments and scientific laboratories.
  • Ensure proper security and back-up/restore procedures and systems are in place to safe-guard Pieris’ data and comply with applicable privacy and security regulations including the GDPR .
  • Develop, implement and ensure compliance with company information systems policies and objectives including documentation and procedures to support Sarbanes Oxley and internal controls .
  • Lead the evolution of the IT solution landscape designed for a dynamic R&D driven organization.
  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships; oversight of all IT service providers in the United States and Germany. Support the Data Sciences Department to achieve Pieris’ vision to become the leading digital biotechnology company.
  • Ensure the consistency and maintainability of existing applications by creating, maintaining and enforcing standards/procedures for implementing technical solutions. Develop and manage the IT department’s budget.

Our Requirements

  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Ten years of progressively responsible experience managing a broad range of IT functions is required; at least 5 years in life sciences managing integrated systems and cross-functional projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in German and English.
  • Ability to work in a customer-centric fashion independently or as a team; experience building and leading teams is highly desired.
  • Experience both setting and implementing short- and long- term IT strategy across an organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain an understanding of the latest developments in technology and ensure the Company’s digital infrastructure remains at the cutting-edge.
  • Familiarity with 21 CFR Part 11 validation is highly desired.
  • Microsoft SharePoint administration and configuration experience are highly desirable.
